We understand that having a baby is a big
change for your family.  Therefore, we like to
involve your family in your prenatal care.  If
you already have children, they are  welcome
to attend your visits.  They can color the
various stages of their sibling's development
and hold the doppler to help listen to the
baby's heartbeat.

Our prenatal care and delivery includes complete prenatal care and a hospital delivery
with your choice of anesthesia.  We take the time to explain every phase of your
pregnancy, appropriately monitor your health, provide nutritional counseling, and
provide written prescriptions in addition to natural remedies and techniques in order to
ensure the best labor and delivery possible.

We request the same tests that most OB/GYN offices require such as bloodwork,
ultrasounds and vaginal cultures.  If necessary, we will work closely with specialists like
perinatologists throughout your pregnancy, and with a collaborating physician in the
event that a C-section is needed.

We take the time to involve you as an active participant in the decision-making process
through education about your body, your health and your baby's needs.  This is in order
to provide you with an enriching and optimal pregnancy and delivery.  We like women
to leave our office armed with plenty of reading materials -- particularly our pregnant
patients.  So before leaving our website, please stop by our
Links section for some of
the sites, books and health care related materials that we recommend.

Martha currently delivers at University Medical Center (UMC) hospital only.  She is
looking into delivering at other hospitals as well.  UMC has individual birthing rooms,
the lowest rate of C-sections in Las Vegas, and offers a tea and video tour of their
facility for before you deliver.

We Provide The Midwives Model of Care

The Midwives Model of Care is based on the fact that pregnancy and birth are
normal life events and includes:

Monitoring the physical, psychological and social well-being of the mother throughout
the childbearing cycle;

Providing the mother with individualized education, counseling, and prenatal care,
continuous hands-on assistance during labor and delivery, and postpartum support;

Minimizing technological interventions; and

Identifying and referring women who require obstetrical attention.

The application of this model has been proven to reduce the incidence of birth injury,
trauma, and cesarean section.

feel comfortable and at ease, while providing you with the best prenatal care and
delivery possible.
